RCC Structures are equally important in the Industrial Structure Field. For the excellent career in MNCs, we need to be proficient in RCC Structure Design also as many structures housed in Industrial blocks like Pump Houses, Admin Buildings, Production Units, Control Room, Substation buildings are made of RCC.

Very few engineers know about these charts. The former is used for designing footing under tension, and the later for Plate bending with different support conditions. We are going to study both of these charts along with its application.

We need to understand how the load transfer takes place in Base Plate and Anchor Bolts. How to transfer load on shear key without affecting the bolts

Based on all the calculations mentioned above, we need to optimize the foundation dimensions, be it width, be it length or be it thickness. Just getting the factor of safey of 1.5 or giving more reinforcement will not serve the purpose.

Looking at nature of Industrial Projects, we need to understand where to provide development length and where to curtail it. We should have knowledge on application part of shear key below footing also.

The foundation need to be designed for total 4 Bending moments – Top/ Bottom/ Plan X-dirn / Plan Z-dirn. Then it need to be checked for one way shear in both directions and also for punching shear for the reactions we got from STAAD/ ETABS superstructure model.

One must have knowledge on How to calculate the load in each pile due to vertical load on Pedestals along with Bi-direction Moments.

Design your academic time period, You may have learned many of such topics from theory point of view. But there are several practical concepts related to these topics, which someone can learn while working on actual Huge Industrial Projects only.

Engineers always get confused on which bar should be at bottom and which above in footings, slabs etc. Similarly which bar should be at front and which behind for pits, cantilever retaining walls, retaining walls with buttresses etc. Let’s understand this in detail along with its logic.

The suspended slabs are in bending, Grade slabs are in bearing. Accordingly we need to understand its applications.

Conceptually, How we need to deal with this sections, let's understand in a unique way.

Practically, where we should emphasis which type of beams, how we will take decisions based on project constraints, let's go through it.

We should know at least the basics of this term, what’s the definition, how it impacts our structures, what’s its application in our Structure Engineering, etc.

We need to understand not only the definition of these terms, but also the application part, that means for Design of RCC pits, retaining walls, anchored walls, underground tanks, which pressure shall be used where for the Analysis.

This need to be understood conceptually as there is huge application in design of Industrial RCC Structures.

Along with all these pressure concepts, we must understand the crucial calculation part also to find the Force and Moment values on pit walls/ Retaining walls.

Apart from Definition, Many engineers have confusion about this- specially, while checking it with Base pressure given in Geotechnical Reports. We need to understand this thoroughly.

One must have thorough knowledge on all the stability checks in Industrial foundation design. As based on this only, we need to optimize the foundation dimensions, be it width, be it length or be it thickness. Just getting the factor of safey of 1.5 and thus making the foundation safe will not serve the purpose.

This theory will be used in finding bending stresses, base pressure below footing, pressure below base plate and at many other places. We need to know this along with its application part.

In actual projects, all the calculations are performed in Excel Design Templates. Let’s have look on different RCC templates used in MNC projects.

The load combinations is a crucial topic. We need to specially emphasis on the decision – where to use factored combination and where to use unfactored combinations.

Codal provisions for loading, load combinations, detailing, design criteria etc. is basis for structure engineering. This can’t be skipped at all.

Only Ly/Lx ratio is not the whole thing we need to know. We need to understand the placement, concepts, bending etc. for this.

When you are in Interview cubical of a company, you must know in advance what does that company do? What is their work profile? Whether they are doing Consultancy, PMC, EPC, Contractor, Fabrication or anything else so that you prepare yourself accordingly and you know if you get selected what kind of work you will be doing there.

Minimum qualification for this course is B.E. Civil. You can also undergo this course parallel to B.E. education. But you must have completed 3rd year of B.E. Civil.

Currently, there is a high demand for Structural Engineers in Canada, the Gulf, Australia, New Zealand, and the USA. You should complete the first five courses if you plan to settle abroad.

Yes. Crash or fast-track courses are conducted 2–3 times a year. For example, the Steel Structures module (normally 10 days) is completed in 3 days in the crash format. The combined duration for RCC, STAAD, and Expert courses is 10 days in total.

There are many PGs, hostels, and guest houses within 2–3 km of the institute. Our team can assist you. Accommodation starts at around ₹3,000 per month, depending on facilities.
